If I Stay by Gayle Forman
(Book Review)
Rating:

This is the first book I have ever read from Gayle Forman and also, this is my first time ever to write a book review so please bare with me if it isn't what you're looking for. :-)

What attracted me to read this book is its cover. Yes, I know. We shouldn't pick a book by its cover for it might disappoint us, but it seems to me that my instincts were right in picking this amazing novel.

What I love most about this book is that it is very light, the words are easy to understand and it is fast-paced - very good for those who just want to kill their time. This book is a 1-3 hour read (I guess) plus, it is wonderfully written by Ms. Forman.

I love how she introduced the character, Mia Hall, and the coming of the other characters involved came in a smooth manner. I love how she elaborated the flashbacks that reflect Mia's life - somehow I can totally relate in her life, the typical teenage girl who seeks for the world has a gift for music. Jeez, I do envy her, she plays the Cielo, my dream instrument but thank God she's just a fictional character. (Haha! :-) )

Oh, another thing to love. Her beau, Adam Wilde. I'd kill for a guy like him. Adam is your rock-bad-boy-god-every-girl-would-love-to-be-in-a-relationship-with. I love how he entered the story - the face of a rockstar with a very fluffy girl for the only girl he ever loved. I love him most when he whispered to Mia that he'll leave everything, his career, the band and his music, if she stayed. Jeeez! He's so dreamy.

This book made me cry though. It seems like I felt Mia's pain - the pain of whether to go or not. To go because she no longer has a family to run to, or to stay because there are people waiting for her to wake up, people who love her so much, who are willing to give up everything if she stayed.

Overall, this book is a 5-star-hell-yeah-go-read-it book for me. I highly recommend it to everyone. I'm sure some of you can relate and will have that jitterbugs that I felt for Adam.
